I was volunteering in the hospital where Joey was brought. I remember hearing him somehow, although I think he was up a floor from where was helping. I believe I heard him singing. I went up and found this young boy. He was conscious and able to talk, but I had no idea how seriously he might be hurt, and if he was paralyzed from the bullet in his neck. There were very few staff people in the hospital, that’s why we had come to help, so he was alone.
I went back to check on him, maybe a couple days later, I’m not sure, but he was in a room and had guests, so I didn’t go in. I have always wondered what has happened to him. Of course it was shocking when his picture appeared on the cover of LIFE.
Does anyone know how he is and how his life has been?

I too was wondering what happened to Joe Bass Jr. The more things change the more they stay the same.
