Witness testimony of Governor Richard Hughes before the Governor’s Select Commission on Civil Disorders on October 2, 1967. In his testimony, Governor Hughes describes receiving a phone call from a “panicked” Mayor Addonizio insisting on the deployment of State Police and National Guard to Newark.
